Review on Thermo Tec 13585 Adhesive Backed Barrier by Tim Ram

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Fell apart in 4 weeks

I bought this to align the transmission tunnel on a 2013 Corvette. The GM mechanic installed it at my Chevy dealership and replaced the stock heat shield with an insulated one. A few weeks later, we took the car on a four-day road trip, and by the time we got home, the surface of the film had completely peeled off the adhesive and was gradually tearing away from the underside of the car. Yesterday I had the opportunity to bring the Vetta back in the Chevy to put it on the rack. The adhesive backing was still perfectly bonded to the tunnel, but the foil layer was completely gone. This is very disappointing as the work to lower the exhaust pipes and remove the heat shield is expensive. As a result, it is not economically feasible to attempt to replace the thermal barrier. It was an expensive lesson and a waste of money.*****update*****. I received a call from ThermoTec apologizing for the issue and promising a refund. He explained that they received a "bad batch" of film and received similar complaints. I appreciate the prompt response, but that doesn't solve the problem of the mechanic being overpaid for a second job.
