I had never heard of any of these bikes until my wife told me to buy one for my son. The balance bike sounded like some kind of fad that I had to accept in order to keep my wife happy. I have to admit that it was a great idea of hers. We gave our son a unique freedom, I don't think he would have had any other freedom at his age. It was easy to put together and I was completely blown away at how well my son rides his bike. He can keep a very good speed on our big bikes and he's only three years old. He recently switched to a single rear wheel and is keeping it up with no issues. I cannot put into words how impressed I am with the speed at which he can accelerate onto it. He's like little Fred Flintstone. This is actually the second one we've bought. Our 18 year old daughter now has her own. I have no doubt that she will soon tear her way through the streets. I would highly recommend it to all toddlers. The only thing I want is brakes when going downhill.
