Before purchasing this product I read many conflicting reviews which I am happy to answer.1) Some complain that they break easily when dropped or hit. Yes, plastic gets brittle in the cold, just be careful, like glass. 2) Yes, when cold materials are exposed to sudden temperature changes, they can check. Use common sense and allow the jar to come to room temperature before placing it in hot water to wash dishes. 3) Yes, plastic scrapers, again use common sense and don't use a rough brush to clean. I just put a drop of dish soap and water in the jar and wash it by hand. 4) Some have complained about the inside edge/ridge. I don't know how they drink from it because I can't tell there's a rim there. I literally had to hook my teeth and lip on the rim of the glass to feel the inside edge/ridge with my lip. 5) Yes, plastic is not as elegant as glass, but they have a very nice modern design and are made of plastic. Works well for outdoor/pool use. Thing is, you don't really need to handle them any differently, just be careful - none of the durability issues mentioned above have been encountered. I've been using them for about a month and really enjoy a very cold martini. i live in the south It will be interesting to see if they stay frozen in our heat. I think they could make nice shrimp/crab/lobster cocktail bowls for al fresco dining. My criticism: The insulation on the outside to keep your hands warm could climb a bit higher on the glass, but who knows, maybe it's nice to be able to cool your hands when it's hot. Like most martini glasses, they take up a moderate amount of space in the freezer. I would buy them again. Plan to purchase other frost resistant glasses from Host.
