I was looking for a small vise for my small drill. I wasn't aiming for machine precision as I have a milling machine for that, but better quality than the flimsy vise I've seen at the hardware store (and on Revain). I was also looking for a center-spaced vise so I wouldn't have to worry about drilling through holes in the base or spindle. This one seemed to meet those requirements. I've read all the reviews here carefully (thanks for taking the time) and was looking forward to making some tweaks to finish the vise. However, I was disappointed when I got it. The bottom bracket was lost and the bolts would not tighten, giving the vise too much play. Fixing requires re-drilling/tapping and new screws. The surface finish of the brackets is poor, surface milling is required. I argued with myself and finally decided to spend time on my projects instead of fixing bad tools. I just returned it and ordered a machine vise for significantly more money. This vise can be really good, definitely better than the hardware store vise sold at the same price, but the workmanship and finish needs improvement.
