These are my first boots with an elastic collar. It fits very snugly on the foot as if it were a sock itself. The laces come in handy for the aesthetic, like if I tightened them my legs would start to numb!. The first 4 weeks were the worst for me. I had a little excessive chafing on my right achilles tendon at the stitched portion of the boot's elasticated shank. Just the right shoe. I had to put on an extra sock underneath and eventually after wearing them an hour a week for 4 weeks I built up enough heartless skills along with the extra sock not to play with the pain of the chafed skin. great shoe. great ball control and such
