I was concerned this was a dial-up remote as it's either lugging around in your pocket or you don't have quick control over the level settings like I've experienced with other remotes. I worried in vain :) The dial is fixed - a special action is required to change the set level. And with the included belt clip, I still don't have to carry it in my pocket - I just thread the cord through the belt loop and tie a slipknot, then clip the clip to my belt or hook it into my front pocket. If it rips off my belt due to movement, the strap will keep it from hitting anything other than my thigh. 3 buttons with different intensities save me from having to change levels at all. I found a level for my dog that scares her without causing stress for basic corrections. Constantly ignoring him will make the middle tier cringe and get rid of most problems. In those high adrenaline moments, the third stage will make you squeal a little but get you out of hyper-focused mode. I have a persistent GSD who was terminally ill as a child and did not tolerate any stimulation, so she is hyper reactive and has trouble modulating her energy. It's nobody's fault, it's just that her life has turned out sadly. (And no, it's not dangerous, ft. Imagine not having filters when you're excited, and no physical disruption, no way to stop the adrenaline rush. All the jumps/lunges, barking, spinning, etc. Walking You within a 5ft radius and It's like a 3 month old puppy who wants to be his best friend but in a 75lb GSD package.) 5 is our level. I've tried 3 other collars and this is the only one I've found to be of a //reliable// level that doesn't require constant guessing and adjusting the dial. The changes are agreed. No, it's the consistency. It took out SO much stress on my part knowing the collar would give the same charge and response from my dog. She also swam with him without any problems. And there were no distance correction inconsistencies, not that it ever went away from my view. But on the soccer field I know I can still use it to call if needed and it just doesn't work. I've used the Dogtra 200C for years but found the charges to be inconsistent and it wasn't reliable from a distance. I tried Educator briefly and it just didn't work for my dog. I am really happy and convinced of this collar. The battery life is better than I expected. I turn it off at night and we can work about 3 days without bothering. When I bought it I didn't know it came with long haired dog teeth so I bought a denture alongside it. Just a note for those who will make the same mistake! xD The only complaint I have is that the charger on the collar is a pain. If the connection is NOT JUST CORRECT, it will not charge.
