My family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teens) travels to/from New Jersey, Florida every year. It was the perfect lunch fix. Simple, economical and convenient. After 8 hours of "cooking" it was hot. Suitable for 5 cups of ingredients. I made chili and served it with fries. Portions are not large but we had enough for dinner. We installed it on the back of the car and put it in a plastic container to catch spills that are inevitable when the car is in motion, bumps, corners etc. But that doesn't mean we've had major leaks. The elastic band to attach the lid is a simple but clever solution. I bought a square plastic container and silicone liner from Dollar Tree which are perfect for the slow cooker and also good for storage when not in use. I used cooked meat for both batches of chili, but it got so hot I think any raw food would do.
