Good quality spiked collar

Works well as expected. The prongs aren't sharp, and the gel caps definitely help ensure that pulling on them is just uncomfortable, not harmful. But you must know how to use a spiked collar, do NOT expect to put it on and see a brand new dog. I started using it on my (now) 6 month old 50 lb Pitbull pup a few weeks ago. She's really cute and smart, but VERY strong and easily aroused. Because the boxes are so stigmatized, I worry about minor incidents of behavior (real or imagined) that will result in legal action or their demise, so leash manners was a top priority for them. When awakened by dogs, humans or squirrels would completely ignore and pull. It's a TRAINING collar, so when I pull, I 'open' the collar to remind her and stop walking. Realizing that the pulling would be uncomfortable and prevent her from walking, she stopped pulling so hard. That behavior plus lots of praise when she got it right, now she gets the hang of it. Now she only pulls when she is really overwhelmed and I will put her on a slack leash so I can finish her training when she is older. and stop using the collar. It did the job, she's basically leash trained. Some of the gel caps broke through the ends of the pins exposing the metal. The collar comes with extra caps, but be careful with frequent use. The prongs themselves are not as easy to adjust as advertised, I have fairly strong fingers but I still need help removing some of the original prongs. The collar cover did not fall off or move. Collar with good construction and thoughtful design. For the price, the very slight quality defects of the gel caps and the detachability of the prongs are quite justified. 5 stars for an affordable spiked collar.
