I don't want to brag, but I have a big house, thick walls with good thermal insulation. My ComCast wireless router is on the first floor at one end of the house and my office is on the second floor at the other end. My internet download speed was around 3MB/s, which wasn't enough to support uninterrupted internet streaming. The Rock Space Extender was set up easily using their Method 2: Plug in the extender, press the WPS button on the router, then press the button on the extender and wait for the two blue lights to come on. You can then unplug the power strip and plug it into an outlet that is closer to the remote computer. They recommend half, but I found that I got the best speeds when I placed the expander as close to the computer as possible without the red link light flashing - three times what I used to. It's easy to experiment with because every time you plug it in, it connects automatically. The extender will generate a new SSID - your original SSID with an EXT suffix. On your computer, you can switch between the two SSIDs and run speed tests to see how much performance improves. Really smooth!
