This is a white light unlike my other UV lamp which has a more yellowish light making it quite bright. That's good or bad depending on where you place it, so there's something to consider. UV seems to work even though one of their test cards didn't work, so at first I thought maybe it wasn't working. I exposed the lizard card to open sunlight and it still didn't turn purple so I checked the pineapple card which turned purple under all my UV lights including this one. Make sure you have a UV lamp for this lamp. First I put it in another lamp and it buzzed and flickered so I put it in a UV lamp and it worked fine. It heats up like all UV lamps so be careful not to touch the lamp or allow your reptiles to come into direct contact with it.
