Update 6/5/2018: MUST READ! I downgraded my rating from 5 to 1 because the bulb suddenly started smoking. It's good that I was home to smell the burning. I saw smoke coming out of the bulb and part of the bulb was brown indicating where the burn was coming from. I have used it as a heat source for two of my terrapins. Thank God I managed to catch the smoke in front of the fire, otherwise my house and my turtles would have burned down. Don't buy this. It's not worth the risk. My turtles love this lightbulb. It's not hot either. One of my furrows was always hiding in its cave. When I got this heat lamp and turned it on at night he now comes out of his den and sleeps right under the heater. This lamp works great with my smart plug connected to Alexa. If it gets too hot, I just tell Alexa to turn it off.
