Terrible cracking lines and difficult to release

Yes, so you definitely need some mold dope. After the first frustrating attempt to break up and set the wax, I used olive oil to coat the innards, which helped a bit on the second try. At least they came out all the way! Another problem is the incessant jump lines that keep appearing (see pictures). This happens when you pour at too low a temperature and/or too slowly. HOWEVER, since I use paraffin, I pour my wax at 185-190 degrees Fahrenheit and the crack lines still appear. At the moment I'm guessing that the mold needs to be insulated or heated somehow before pouring. Maybe I'll try dunking them in hot water while they cool and see how it goes. But damn, what a complete pain. Do yourself a favor and buy silicone or polyurethane molds. They release a lot of lighter and produce much nicer candles. I would not recommend this product to anyone especially if you are looking to resell one of the candles you have made. Not a pleasant experience.

Pros
  • CONE CONE MOLD: The mold consists of two separate parts: the body and the lid to facilitate candle removal. This mold can be used to make candles from paraffin, wax, beeswax.
Cons
  • Out of fashion
