Sure these are not high quality American made optics but then again most of us who use carbon dioxide laser cutters are not using high quality American optics. Cars. The vast majority of cars are of Asian origin. If I were using a high-end device, I could switch to high-end optics. Right now they're doing the job on a 45 watt machine (they say it's a 50 watt machine but that's unlikely). I'm a retired laser technician and a former field technician for CO2 and YAG lasers, so I know a lot about lasers. optics etc. If I upgraded my standard Chinese laser tube to a real 60 watt tube (and I will) and matched the resonator to the tube (which is not difficult). Order a whole new optic because now is the time to endure the pain of a complete optic replacement and full alignment. Until then I will use this style of optics as it works well as long as you keep your system clean. I can tell you as a true laser maintenance professional that dirty optics is by far the number one problem we have. Probably 60-70 percent of all calls involved optics, with dirty or burned optics being the number one. ZiSe optics either with good alcohol (no Jim Beam), or I use cloths without glasses if they are mainly alcohol. If you don't clean them seriously, they will come out clean and work fine. I had them so bad they lost 70 percent of their performance on the desktop and I was able to clean them to near spec performance. Of course they need to be cleaned more often because once you have a small burn scar on the optic it tends to burn sooner or get "dirty" but just watch the performance or how the laser engraves. Most of us don't even have laser power meters. I wish I had but too much money for me. From time to time I use a pressure washer. Works great. Definitely back to optics. Of course it's not the best you can get, but I find they work great for most sub-100w lasers. Above about 80 watts I might be surprised but for 40-60 watt machines there is no problem. 80 watts would also suit me. Definitely back to optics.
