Overall very happy with it

I've only had this for a short time so I may have to come back and edit it later but I'm very happy so far. One of the reasons I wanted to write this review is because I asked a question about whether you can use a Protec cartridge in this model to keep it clean. Respondents didn't know, but when I read the instructions that came with it, I found that they recommend using it. I am particularly impressed by the ease of care. The tank is easy to lift and replace, and easy to clean. it is also very quiet. My last cool mist humidifier was the Vicks model and it has lasted for many years. I could handle it at first but as I got older it became harder and harder for me to replace a full tank so this one is better for me now. I'm glad this humidifier is so easy to use and maintain. I'll update it on January 17th. Now I had the opportunity to gain more experience with this humidifier and make more observations. This is a great design for easy use and care. Although it holds the same amount of water as my previous one, the tank is much easier to fill and swap out. I don't want it to be left with water until daytime use, so every morning I take out the tank and rinse it, lift the very light part that holds the mechanism and drain the water into the bowl . All of this only takes a few minutes. All of these parts are lightweight, uncomplicated and easy to maintain. About once a week I clean the tray and container with vinegar as recommended in the instructions. I would also like to mention that by following their advice I have had very good results in keeping the filter clean. I started using this over a month ago and this filter is still very clean. I only use filtered water in my aquarium and turn the filter over every time as recommended. I also use a Protect cartridge in the tank. I used to have to change the filters monthly, but this one hasn't had to be replaced yet. There's one thing I'm not sure about: I've always used what's called a "cool mist humidifier" and didn't really understand the difference to this type of vaporization. There is no "feel" that the room is too humid, but using a hygrometer will show that it is. Once turned on, the humidity starts to rise fairly quickly, but it's a different feeling and I'm not sure I like it. It might seem confusing, but it's a completely different method.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Incredible piggy bank
