Love the Thickness
I'm obsessed with making macrame plant hangers. I find them so relaxing to make. While it's much easier to make them with thinner yarn, I really like the aesthetic of the heavier gauge. I didn't know about the difference between the thickness of 1 layer and what I'm using now, but after using it I definitely noticed a difference. This looks a lot cleaner, but snags pretty easily, and I found that after I'm done with all my knots, I need to go through and trim any loose threads.
