I needed a few extra mounting points as the lock I bought only had one and I have several different places that I need to lock my computer. That's what it's good for. It can be firmly attached to the wall and has space for cable locks. One caveat: make sure the screw holes line up well. If it doesn't, the screws aren't seating the lid properly, which means the lid is loose. This doesn't stop it from working, but does increase the chances that the rosette can get lost (you want the rosette in place so a thief can't unscrew the anchor point).
