Open brush heads have always bothered me and I've tried plastic wrap. I used hydrogen peroxide before cleaning. Feel better with caps. I'm not sure if it fully protects, so probably continue rinsing with peroxide before use, but I'm very pleased with the easy and snug fit of the lids for my Oral-B Pro 1000 toothbrush that I use with my family share.
