The traveler's dream! in soft shell carriers

So we drove almost 800 miles from the mountains of North Carolina to OBX North Carolina and back. We had a set of 3 wheeled suitcases plus 2 other large bags in this piece, as well as 2 body boards. We downloaded this thing completely, but not too much. To be honest we could put some soft items in it to fill it up (like deflated inflatable toys or pillows) but I didn't want to push it. It is very easy to install on a hard top car (no luggage racks or rails). (See end for durability details) *Tips: Wash your car to avoid scratches and make sure the bottom of the bags is free of dirt. Before exiting the car, open your back with the firm side against the windshield. Then load the product into the bag and close it. Once you've zipped it up you can thread the straps through the buckles and then take the car apart (with the doors open). Once in place, CLOSE the door BEFORE tightening the straps. Once the door is closed on the correctly positioned strap, tighten it. Now you can open your door and the belt will not detach from the scraper. If you tighten it with the door open, you could damage the scraper or your face if the hook comes loose and pops into your mouth! ** Helpful Tips: 1) This increases fuel consumption per ton. I usually get 38-42 mpg in my Chevy Cruze at 70 mph, but I've noticed my car runs around 20 mpg. 2) The wind is really blowing around your ears while driving. especially the front seats. So while we were in the car we used gorilla tape on the inside of the stripper and it wasn't bad at all. Of course, if you make a pit stop, you'll need to reapply the tape. Gorilla is not a duck. A duck is not the same thickness as a gorilla. Believe me. We ducked and then stopped at Dollar General for the gorilla! We had 4 adults driving 7 hours during the week for a beach vacation where we had to meet up summer, fall and winter (because NC is bipolar). ) and saved it! We packed our beach gear (cooler, picnic basket, bodyboards, inflatables and pump, and plenty of towels) at the beach so everything was handy, and the chairs and other items were packed in the trunk. We experienced a NE and Gulf Stream low colliding offshore within 3 days and evolving into a tropical storm sending 25 foot waves over the dunes onto the only highway (Hwy12) we were driving. This bag was literally soaked in salty sea water and pounds of sand and relentlessly thrashed for days. We drove through a door with high standing water that covered my whole car during a violent storm. Not a single item in the bag was wet! Not alone. The towels were as dry as they came out of the dryer! I was shocked. This thing was literally battle tested! I literally left my bag on the roof of my car as the rain came down the side and swirled and it wasn't even phased. Just a bit. I was amazed at the quality of the bag! *** I was not paid or asked to leave a review.

Pros
  • ATTACH WITH OR WITHOUT ROOF LUGGAGE: Attach the roof rack straps to your car's roof rack or use car clips to attach the straps to your car's door frame.
