I bought a refurbished Linksys E2500 router and so far it has been working fine. After setting it up I tested it for a few days and the only other tweak I made was to set it to a fixed WiFi channel (out of 11 available channels in the 2.4GHz band) instead of the automatic one leave mode. In automatic mode, it tends to change channels too frequently, resulting in transient 1-second glitches. Installing a fixed channel solved the problem. This router is dual band but I don't have a 5GHz capable device so I don't use that band.
