Very Slow Networking Products

In short, I reluctantly decided to purchase this router after calling tech support about a very poor internet connection. They suspected that my existing router (Netgear WNDR 4300v2) was causing problems. Wow when I replaced my Netgear with this my speed tests dropped from an average of 110Mbps to 40Mbps on 5GHz and from 60Mbps to 20Mbps on 2.4GHz. This also applies when installing the latest Tomato firmware. Performance is even worse than my old Linksys E1200 v2 with DDWRT, which typically…

Unreliable - Failed to fix - Terrible warranty support

This was supposed to replace the Linksys E2000 so I could get 5GHz along with 2.4GHz. I have access points on each floor (another E2000 and Actiontec) and this was on the first floor. It regularly refuses to connect to the device. Reboots itself during the day. All of our devices (PCs, laptops, phones, etc.) will eventually connect to other, more distant access points, although I have confirmed that they originally connected to this refurbished E2500. I haven't noticed any problem probably…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Reliable Wi-Fi Router

I bought a refurbished Linksys E2500 router and so far it has been working fine. After setting it up I tested it for a few days and the only other tweak I made was to set it to a fixed WiFi channel (out of 11 available channels in the 2.4GHz band) instead of the automatic one leave mode. In automatic mode, it tends to change channels too frequently, resulting in transient 1-second glitches. Installing a fixed channel solved the problem. This router is dual band but I don't have a 5GHz capable…

  • Wide range

Great router for amateurs - supports DD-WRT, Tomatousb, Mega firmware

Love it. This is a great router for techies/hobbyists who want to tinker with DD-WRT, Tomato, etc. I use Tomato on my computer and it works great. I have a v3 version of this router with a roomy 16MB flash that gives plenty of room for EFFS and packets if anyone is so inclined. For Tomato you will need a K26RT-N and make sure you have a Mega ROM (v3) as the smaller one is NOT compatible with this router and cannot flash (no brick, no worries). Get all the bells and whistles with Mega, including

Works great with Shibby Tomato firmware.

I bought this for $26.50 to install the Shibby Tomato software and see how well it works. The E2500/Shibby Tomato combo works so well I have installed it in 2 homes and will be adding it to a 3rd home soon. Shibby Tomato can be downloaded from: http://tomato.groov.pl/Special catalog for E2500. found at: http://tomato.groov.pl/download/K26RT-N/ where build5x-vvvv-EN is the directory. vvv=124 for version 124, EN for English version. I downloaded and installed the following…

For those planning to use dd-wrt or Tomato on this

. I received the V3 device on 5/20/16. Experiment. Sorry I can't answer questions in case anyone has them. For dd-wrt the consensus seems to be flashing first to dd-wrt.v24-23569_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-e2500V3.bin and then to dd-wrt .v24-26947_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-e2500.bin. --- The E2500 dd-wrt wiki contains basic information about flashing. Read it and all links. For V3 use duckduckgo to search: dd-wrt.v24-23569_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini-e2500V3.bin ciscodlink To get a mirror for the file (became hard to find).

Meets my computer and accessories needs

I bought this to program some ethernet connected computer devices for public computing applications before putting them into production and it worked. Before giving it to this random task, I decided to see if it would be a good replacement for my client's WGT624 wireless router. The range doesn't compare well to a working router, and as in other cases, multiple WiFi users lead to unpredictable results. With the frequent presence of 5 or 6 library users using the Wi-Fi service, its performance…

Do you have experience in IT and 3 hours of work?

Here's the thing, this router was a real problem. The firmware is outdated so I had to update it. The problem was that he canceled the update in the middle. I ended up having to set up my old router, connect to the internet, connect this E2500 to my computer and update it that way. That was just the beginning. Your username and password for this router is "Administrator". couldn't find the router. I had to set it up manually. Problem 2: The DNS server was not working for some reason. I set up…

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Some trouble

Great router with lots of security options that won't contradict your experience. However, it took some tweaking and playing with the settings to get it working. Pros: Elegant design and easy-to-use features. QoS (Quality of Service) can prioritize gaming or streaming as well as open ports needed by certain applications to make them faster. Has a bandwidth of 5GHz, which is not as common as 2.4GHz and doesn't conflict with other electronics as much. Cons: MUST READ! If you're having trouble…

Pros
  • Many will do
Cons
  • Long wait
