These were great Christmas tree lights. We ended up buying two threads that could be controlled by the same remote control. My baby just changed the backlight colors with the remote control. It was extremely exciting because you can choose between sixteen different colors. When there's no solid color, the options for color changing modes are a little too much, as the lighting was very bright and the colors changed quickly even on the slowest settings - I wish they could be less quick with color changes and transitions, but it was interesting for my baby, so everything was fine. I would never call the color changing modes calming - we always joked that it was more of a rave and party mode for tree lights. The timer function worked as expected. We left the light on almost constantly for a month, but sometimes we accidentally turned on the timer function as the light would turn off automatically from time to time (again, pressing buttons to change color as a toddler also has unforeseen consequences) . There's no indication if you've activated the timer, but it's very easy to turn the light on or off, which doesn't really matter anyway.
