I have been reading reviews here and on other sites for a long time. I finally decided on this coffee maker. I wanted something that looked sleek and modern, something that wouldn't take up too much counter space. I walked from Krups Cafe Duomo II; I've never used an espresso machine so I can't comment on that, but after a year of use (it was gifted to me, never used so it was like new) I found that other coffee makers make hot coffee. My parents, who originally gave it to me, have a Keurig coffee maker, which I liked because we usually only use one shot of coffee, but I didn't like the way it looked. Kitchenaid made a nice personal-sized coffee maker, but it was too damn big. Their drip coffee makers looked pretty cool, too, but the reviews were lukewarm (no pun intended). I started leaning towards the Bonavita, it was under $150, it had great reviews but when I saw the review video it looked maybe as big as the Krups Cafe Duomo II I had so it was going to fall calmly. Everything else I liked was over $150 and then I stumbled upon it. Coffee quality reviews seem to be above average, it took up a lot less space (not as big as the KitchenAid options), had the kind of stainless steel I wanted but not too much where it looked cheap like the cheaper coffee makers, there are just looked ugly. So I made my choice and I don't regret it. The coffee comes out hot, the warm plate seems to keep it fairly warm (also has a few settings if you don't like it too hot), it has a cleaning reminder, bold and normal settings. The carafe doesn't seem to drip (had once because we poured too quickly, like pouring coffee) and the anti-drip system seems to work well too (the Krups leaked when it stopped halfway) . If you wish, you can also purchase a thermal jug from Braun. I love that there is no vapor coming out of this device as was the case with cheaper devices, as was the case with my previous Krups. Condensation water is not visible from above. Instead, they shaped it and let it flow back into the water so you can turn it on and slide it back under the cabinets without worrying about moisture getting on your wooden cabinets. The fountain is a bit smaller but we had no problems; We pour from a cup to measure how much coffee we make. The only thing I didn't like was that the keys felt a bit spongy (not premium) and that "premium" display looks really cheap (no contrast, no brightness settings, can't turn it off until you turn it off ). One thing that would make it even better would be if the lid had a slow closing mechanism so it wouldn't slam (a little over $80 depending on the model). Little things, I'd get a 4.5/5 if I could, but round up because I'm really happy with the quality of the coffee he makes (although he doesn't happen to be a coffee connoisseur, but now it tastes a lot better, a lot smoother and hotter ).
