I've come to the conclusion that thick hair is not compatible with curlers. I really love them but of course curling irons work better. I have very thick, coarse, shoulder length hair, but I'm still gray (to give you context). I actually bought an extra set to use at the same time, but even with that I only cover half my head! So if I only had 1 video, I would warm up and reload each video 4 times! As it stands now, I'm still doing half a head at a time with 2 sets. So I'm not sure if this will really save me time as carefully selected pieces look best. Also, the clips really suck. 2 of my 10 came with completely crooked tines that didn't interlock properly at all. But I don't want to buy more, because 2 sets are quite expensive! I think it's more beneficial than a permanent curling iron. Tip: For a more natural look, the curlers should be set in different directions. After all, I probably wouldn't promote them to others, but they work decently enough for me.
