My family loved observing the life cycle of the Painted Lady Butterfly! The kit arrived quickly and I was able to activate my Caterpillar certificate online to save even more time. I bought a large gazebo because it had 10 caterpillars instead of 5. Unfortunately, when the caterpillar cups arrived, only 3 out of 10 were alive. Each cup contained a large, adult caterpillar, and one cup contained a small, black-spotted caterpillar. The rest of the little black caterpillars didn't move like dots and we finally decided they were dead. The little one who originally lived soon died too. Two large caterpillars, however, laid their cocoons within a few days, and a week later beautiful butterflies hatched from them. As I bought the set for my daughter's birthday I was disappointed that we only ended up with two butterflies. I emailed Insect Lore support about the incident and received a prompt response. They agreed to send me a certificate for another cup of caterpillars as they guarantee 3 out of 5 caterpillars survive in each cup. I was very happy about the quick reaction and I hope that all 5 of the next caterpillars survive!
