This egg slicer is well designed. It is designed for heavy-duty applications and constructed so that the cutting wires pass through the base. I have two other egg slicers, one plastic and one stainless steel, and neither of them make as complete a cut as this one. This is the best slicer I've had so far. The only downside is that cast aluminum cannot be cleaned in the dishwasher. Most people don't realize that dishwashing detergents will stain cast aluminum, so be sure to hand wash with soapy water. Otherwise I am very satisfied and will definitely buy another one.
