Quality product - so far so good

It's been a few months and the EVAP error hasn't returned. For a low price you can just replace it and see what happens. My car has done about 165,000 miles with the original purge magnet. It worked fine on desktop, but upon closer inspection it might be choppy. Before you spend a lot of money, try the gas cap first and then the purge magnet. On my vehicle, the Check Engine light only goes off when the ECM is reset. So simply replacing this part will not necessarily fix your problem unless you do a RESET. The brand new gas cap that I bought from the dealer was leaking. So be aware that a brand new gas cap may not work properly, especially if the gas filler neck inlet lip is a bit dirty or corroded. The gas cap should be clean and smooth and I would prefer this type of gas cap to the dealer supplied one. Gates 31838 Gas Cap There is a sensor designed to detect fuel vapor when this purge solenoid activates. So the third step is to find that sensor and clean it thoroughly or possibly replace it. Make sure the hoses are securely connected. The standard smoke test used to find leaks does not always determine the source of the problem as failure is not always the result of a leak. Therefore, I would recommend doing these preparatory steps first. This solenoid makes a distinct click. The old one was very quiet, and its tone changed when it was activated again. It has been tested with a low pressure air source and 12 volts DC. The old one was considered good because it passed the standard test, but ended up bad. ----------- Update 4-10-22 --------- - That's what I originally said There is a sensor that is expected to detect fuel vapors when this purge solenoid is activated. I am not sure if this statement is correct. If the RPM drops significantly during the purge cycle, it can cause an EVAP failure. My car sometimes stops at traffic lights. Replacing this part solved the problem. Many years have passed and it still works well.
