Very effective tool
I used to just stretch the chalk line bit by bit to straighten it, sometimes it was messy. A pin is a great idea for holding the string in place. Simple and effective. It appears to be made out of plastic parts, so we'll see how well it holds up in harsh environments. But it's not something you'll carry around on your tool belt all day, so it'll likely last.
