Review on πŸ–οΈ General Pencil Primo Charcoal 3B - Box of 12 Soft Pencils by Kristen Simpson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent quality. - Charcoal

This is a premium pen from General. They turned out to be a great option - like all soft charcoal pencils, the tips break off easily. Using a utility knife may be your best bet. I still reach for the utility knife to get stuck while honing my sharpeners. I tried three different brands of wire: Derwent, Creatacolor 5.6mm with separate holder and this one. Cretacolor white is by far the best. As for the charcoal, Derwent was unlucky because a pencil broke while being sharpened by hand. Their white color was prickly and fickle. By the way, with all this, do not forget to sharpen manually. The cretacolor wood holder feels good in the hand. Soft and medium charcoals are fine, but I find them even more difficult to sharpen. So use it for whites and generals or derwent for everything else but replace worn out generals primo soft pencils. This particular one is equivalent to Derwent software. I have to say that Derwent sticks to the label when buying sets, all the generals seem pretty boring to me, not quite true to the label.

Pros
  • Premium Charcoal
Cons
  • Non-Automatic
