I've read some reviews that said they don't work or only work at very short distances and don't look like OEM Roku remotes . The simple fact is that it doesn't, Roku remotes use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth frequencies in many cases and have a pairing button under the battery compartment (some not all). These remotes only use RF (old school plain simplicity) and unlike OEM units they also use 2 AAA batteries instead of 2 AA batteries so they are smaller and lighter. In the short version, I put in some AAA batteries, pointed them at my Roku 4 and my TV, and Roku turned on the main screen. FYI, if your Roku device isn't programmed to turn on the TV using an HDMI cable, you should, it's a lot easier than turning on the TV and then looking for the Roku remote. You still need a second remote control for the TV volume, but if you don't change it too often, what does it matter. Device wise the construction is the same as any OEM device, they are not flimsy they are ok, maybe a 10 cent part where the OEM could use 15 cent parts but honestly for that Price and the fact that I can get 4 of these for the price of 1 Roku remote which is worth every penny. They have 6 buttons on the top menu and no voice search button, something I've never used so no problem. They also don't have volume buttons, it's a feature of a connected remote like OEM, if you want then spend $29 on Roku OEM devices and don't bother reading this review because these devices aren't for They are. Reports that these devices only work at 3 or 4 feet are grossly exaggerated and debunked, again these are RF remotes you have to point at the device but I was 15 feet from my TV and they worked great. Each of the pre-programmed buttons worked perfectly, I don't have a few apps but the ones I use fit right in so programming was seamless. I didn't find I had to press too hard, I didn't find I needed to get up close and personal, I knew I didn't need to use the pairing button to pair the device, and I wasn't expecting to plug headphones into the remote since it is just a simple remote control. If you have a cheaper Roku box (no IR remote) then it's plug and play.
