Review on MiniDV Cassette Rewinder with AC Adapter - Enhanced Digital Concepts for Efficient Rewinding by Sheppard Priest

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Simple but functional but not as listed

This miniDV winder was purchased from the GoShot Camera Revain Marketplace for approximately $19.86. The packaging of this miniDV rewinder didn't look like it was the same model or as shown in the original Revain listing, but it seems to work in a similar way. Dear Sellers, please make sure to list your product with a comment describing the difference. (s) so that customers are not disappointed or unpleasantly surprised. The top is raised by hand. Made of matte clear plastic, this top cover has a black plastic holder into which you insert miniDV tapes and then close the cover. On the top of the device is an electrical switch with two positions: REW and FF, a "START" button on the front and a small plastic "STOP" button above it. An empty battery compartment for 4 x AAA, 1.5V is located on the bottom of the device. No model or brand is identified on the device, except for the following small circular sticker: QC MID#0010912 Made in China. was able to rewind two Panasonic MiniDV tapes and it seemed to work fine, but then I put in a third Sony tape (DVM60[ME]Premium) and although it did rewind the tape, after removing it I found that the tape went into the Inside got top loader. I was able to lift the lid but I can't remove the tape from it. Strange. To eject the tape I had to remove the carriage under the cover and found that the tape's film was misaligned and stuck in an unusual way. It's currently hard to tell if the problem was with the tape (never noticed). the problem was previously with this tape) or with this unnamed rewinder. Upon closer inspection of the cassette, it was discovered that one of the hinges on the cassette's film cover was bent. It looked like a fresh break - the plastic at the point of the bend looked white. It's probably worth observing this behavior with a similar problem and, if a problem is detected, returning the device to where it came from. I have to say that on the box it mentions a 1 year limited warranty for this, but due to the namelessness this can be an empty statement. Sequel follows.
