I bought glasses online and suspected that the pupil distance I reported was the reason the glasses were taken off. Since the optometrist who updated my prescription refused to measure the distance to my FR until I bought a pair of glasses from their store, I tried measuring them myself using a variety of methods including rulers, credit cards, cell phone apps and frame measurements. but none of them seemed credible. I bought this pupilometer and immediately realized how bad the other methods are. With this tool you get reproducible measurements. You also get the PD distance for each eye. In addition, you get PD for distance viewing, reading, or the distance between them (selected with the dial). The PD measurements made with this instrument differed from measurements made by other methods and my new distance glasses, intermediate glasses and reading glasses proved to be the best.
