As you would expect, low power gmrs radios have limited range. In my area trees limit me to no more than 1/3 mile before sound breakes up.Quality okay. Don't expect commercial quality at this price. If your in need of communications while camping. Or as a children's toy, these will probably do fine.Using standard or rechargeable aa batteries is a plus. You can grab them at any store and keep talking.Over all, as long as you understand the limitations of low cost, low power gmrs radios you can't go wrong.
