This works great on the 27 " Apple Cinema Mini Display
The 27" doesn't seem to work with backward compatible Thunderbolt 2 or better ports. When using these connectors, the picture may flicker or not appear at all. Connection is "Mini Display Port" ONLY and works great, good colors at full native resolution and completely stable with no flickering. Exactly why Apple's first monitor with a mini-display connector is finicky, I don't know. But the Apple salesman in the Brooklyn store knew that and told me what to buy.
