I have some plants at work and unfortunately I'm not at the window. (Hooray for booth mazes.) So I have some LED grow lights to help my plants. I have been looking for single and dual socket timers to make my life easier and to help my plants on the weekends. Then I saw this surge protector with a LESSER timer than many timers I've looked at! It works great AND it's safer AND you have a lot more outlets to use in time! The instructions are crap though. What was particularly confusing until I figured it out is that the timer only seems to turn things on or off at the specified time. So if it's 6:50am, for example, if you program the timer to turn on at 7am, it will turn on for you as expected. BUT if the time is say 7:10am, if you program the timer to turn on at 7am, it won't turn on for almost 24 hours when it FINALLY turns back on at 7am. As a programmer, I find this logic pretty bad in design. However, if you know this incorrect logic, to correct it after you're done programming your timers, set the time to 1 minute before your timer is triggered, let it run naturally, and then set the correct time again a. Works great. In theory, I think you could even use the lock button instead of resetting the watch. However, it wasn't clear from the documentation if this would be a permanent override (ignoring timers all the time) or just a temporary override (so the next state change of the timer would override the override). I am not sure. Not worth looking and finding out as changing the clock already solved the problem. But for those setting it up for the first time, it might be useful to try. One thing that confuses me about this unit is why there are so many programmable timers that ALL turn ALL sockets on and off at the same time. It would make more sense if you could activate/deactivate individual sockets. But you can't. Why are there so many timers? It doesn't make any sense to me. But who can use it?
