If you have at least some experience with electronic soldering on larger traditional through hole components but want to try your hand at SMD, this is a great way to get started. This is a very high quality kit with a large selection of different sized pieces to practice with. And at a very reasonable price. For roughly the price of the film, you can't go wrong. And even if you make a few mistakes during the tutorial, never mind because the kit was never intended to be anything constructive other than teaching you how to solder SMD connections. However, it offers some useful options. to check the quality of your work. Exposing the board to strong light will allow you to see trace patterns and use them for some volt/ohm meter tests. For example, on the right side of the board, resistors 1-10 are connected in series, and next to R7 and R8 there are several test points that can be used to test all 10 resistors for continuity at the same time. Other breakpoints involve more complex combinations of serial and parallel networks, and you'll have to take the machine apart to figure out what the correct resistors, capacitances, etc. should be, but that's all you need to know anyway if you ever intend to to do troubleshooting in electronic circuits.
