Concealer comes and goes, but dark circles are forever.

If I would only apply one cosmetic product before leaving the house, it would be concealer. My eyes and eyelids are so prone to dark shadows that I swear it seems I tend to smack myself in the face as part of my morning routine. If I want to walk down the street in the morning for a coffee, I either have to put on concealer or sunglasses, or I'm afraid little kids will run away from me screaming in fear, convinced that they see real zombie life coming from their local ones Starbucks. Due to my unrelenting dark circles, concealer and I have a very intimate relationship. I swear I've tried EVERY concealer and eye brightener that a magazine, beauty blog or friend has ever recommended to me. YSL Touche Eclat, Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, Lancome Effacernes, Benefit Boi-ing, Smashbox Photo Op, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Tarte. Okay, I'll stop naming the concealers I've tried because it's getting really depressing and kind of embarrassing. The thing is, of ALL the concealers I've tried, this Maybelline is my favorite. I love this product and have been using it for years. Actually, I take it back. I kinda hate this product - wish I wasn't shackled by my addictive concealer addiction. And no, it doesn't work miracles, my dark circles are still the bane of my face. (Yes, I know my life is SO hard.) But no matter what, this concealer is the best concealer I have. Sometimes I get curious and try something different, but I always come back to it. It's not too see-through, but also not too thick, sticky or pilling (especially when I set it with a little Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder). This concealer comes in different shades (sometimes I go lighter or darker depending on the season or mix pink with yellow). it's online) and it doesn't irritate my normally sensitive skin. The wand applicator is great. I've found that most concealers that are of a similar consistency are packaged in such a way that you have to press a button or button on the pen-like device to apply more product, and then often too much concealer comes out. right away, and you end up wasting it (which is especially annoying when you're dealing with a very expensive concealer). Several of my friends have started using this concealer based on my rave reviews (and it's probably also a good indicator that my under-eye circles actually look a lot less terrible after applying this product).

Pros
  • understandable even for old people
Cons
  • packaging is ugly
