At first I had a 55-200mm and it seemed like an excellent zoom lens. But I was curious how much better this 100-400mm lens could be. Yes, double the focal length, but is it really more? Unfortunately for my 55-200mm lens, I never touched my 55-200mm lens again after getting this 100-400mm lens. More coverage and more detail, better colors and just better photos opened up a new world for me (for example I was able to take a photo of an eagle sitting in a tree and see all its feathers and great detail in great quality). . yes it is expensive Yes, it's heavy and big, BUT it's a great lens with great optical image stabilization! A lens that can offer you something no other Fuji lens can as it brings you closer to your subjects. This is a special lens, a unique lens that is worth every penny. I'm going to Yellowstone soon. I can not wait. By the way, it's not as hard as it seems. It's big (in size) but it's lighter than it looks. Yes, it's still heavy compared to other Fuji lenses. but much lighter than DSLR zooms like some giant Nikon lenses etc now that I mention the 55-200. Having that big 100-400 doesn't mean I'm going to throw away my 55-200mm. It's also a great lens, a great travel lens as it's light and compact (compared to the 100-400) and offers great image quality. Along with 18-55, 55-200 is the perfect travel combination. But for maximum coverage and most detail when needed (special trips like Yellowstone etc) 100-400 is the way to go.
