Pioneer DVL 919 works with color laser discs. I first bought a turntable with a composite input not knowing it wouldn't work. It is played in black and white. It annoyed me extremely. I've searched the web and found that I need to set up most of the laserdisc player to play properly in the menu. I did as I said and it still didn't work. It turns out that laser disc players can only be played via a Super VHS cable. I bought this and it worked. This brought my laserdisc back to life with my new TV which doesn't have SVHS input. Back then, laser disc players had the best picture quality. It's not true anymore. Changing the output from 480, 720 or 1090 doesn't matter as the best a laserdisc player can do is 480. But what's nice is the ability to re-browse your laserdisc collection. And listen with my old Denon AVR 4802R.
