This product has been repurposed from the automotive industry into the kitchen. A barrier is needed to prevent fat and crumbs from sliding between 2 stoves and cupboards. I wasn't impressed with the silicone strips (temperature resistant and not too pretty), and I didn't have the tools to individually cut stainless steel. This basalt fabric tape was easy to cut and easy to process, solving the problem. Check out the temperature rating too - you can have this cast iron skillet at 600-700 degrees to sear a steak without worrying about melting it. Soak with mild soap and water to clean. It will dissipate if you're not careful, but otherwise it's a good fix.
