I like the thickness of this strap. It's thin enough to fit any case on and around the phone. However, it is not too bulky. Any twist lock cable can be used to connect to the phone. The other end can be attached to a belt. It prevents pickpocketing, falling out of your pocket or even being stolen from where you put it. Another worst-case scenario: you're hanging your feet from the bulk of a sailboat over the water and your phone falls out of your pocket. Since you tied it to the belt, it hangs on it. You tell yourself I'm not glad I tied this to me.
