Superb TV Antenna

I use this outdoor antenna indoors because it's so small I don't want to hire someone to install a large outdoor UHF antenna on my chimney. This antenna has an area of 1 foot. I used a similar (but larger) antenna design from Radio Shack and installed it in the attic of my previous home in New Jersey. I've found it works beautifully. In my bedroom I decided to mount it on a cheap camera tripod, but you can just put it on a shelf. In Los Angeles I used to use one of the flat indoor antennas that can be mounted on a window or wall. TV in my bedroom. It is very good. However, on some days several weak signal channels are not received. Many of the non-terrestrial digital TV channels available in the LA area have weak signals from which 1 towers are so you know roughly which direction you should point your antenna), 1-edge or 2-edge means that there are 1 or 2 obstacles for UHF propagation between the radio tower and my house. So I decided to test this particular antenna. The dual butterfly antenna is a much better design than the elastomer coated flat antenna. It offers a higher signal-to-noise ratio as well as better sensitivity and selectivity. It's also less directional. At home I can easily find more than 100 TV channels. Depending on the weather, some of these transmitters are still pixelated, so I installed a low-noise UHF signal amplifier between the antenna and the television. After that, all channels become strong. Remember that adding a signal booster will not help if the antenna cannot tune to a specific channel. If there is no signal, the amplifier cannot amplify it. If the signal is too weak and you can see it on your TV, but the picture quality drops from time to time, adding an amplifier will likely help.

Pros
  • Effortlessly outperforms indoor antennas with real gain by connecting two antennas together to double the gain!
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
