Added slowly to the seed mix and the cockatiel didn't notice. Birds need a varied diet to get the nutrients they need. Each type has its own needs. My daughter's cockatiel doesn't like fresh food. Until we could get him to eat enough, I knew we had to supplement. He gets a healthy seed mix and I'm slowly adding pellets so he gets it by default just by picking different seeds and other things in his seeds. Mix. It worked! Now we have a ratio of about 50/50. When I change his food I see very few pellets mixed up with discarded seeds. I feel better when he eats. We won't give up on fresh veggies...we know it can literally take a year or more to try...at the same time he's a happy and healthy bird.
