I was so excited to get my new knife block that I immediately assembled it and put my new knives on top. Just for them to slip and land on their dots. I'm lucky I didn't cut myself. The magnet is so weak. Shorter knives (for peeling, use, steak) don't hold up at all. My cook and santoku held at first, but as soon as I moved the block a little, they fell off. I really wanted to show off my sleek new knives on this pad. The wood is so beautiful and heavy with a lovely texture. It was easy to assemble and felt solid and stable. Then phew! The magnet sucks. Completely destroyed. I immediately disassembled it, repackaged it and started sending it back. Will have to look for another. :(
