No longer works well for pepper grinders

I was looking for a USA made salt grinder and was happy to find one which I bought in April 2020. At first I gave five stars, but over time it just didn't work anymore. It's clean, filled with Himalayan salt crystals, but the mechanism no longer "catches" the salt. I twist and turn, a flake or two comes out, and when I turn it over to see, part of the chopper is clogged with salt. No matter how much I wipe it, it's the same. The plastic grinder must be the culprit, so I'm currently looking for a metal coffee grinder.
