Review on Enhanced Vivitek Qumi Q2 300 Lumen WXGA HDMI 3D-Ready Pocket DLP Projector (Black) by Bhanu Hays

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Okay, there's a lot of room for improvement.

This is my first projector. Apart from that I can only compare projection TVs, LCDs and HD plasma TVs. The picture isn't as realistic as on the new LCD or plasma, but it makes for a 92-inch screen versus a 52-inch screen. I had a Samsung Plasma 3D TV that never worked properly (still in a fight with Samsung to get my money back. They make good products but pray you never have a problem. Your help is at best a joke, 8 months and an invoice) sorry, a bit touchy subject. DLP Link 3D is very good. It seems to have a much stronger pop-up effect than TV. My wife said she was a lot flashier too. Photo. really good for most HD content, but one thing I noticed is that it seems to focus on the main subject but not distant things. Almost as if he had problems with depth perception. The weird thing is I don't notice it in 3D. The X games had a focus issue. When a distant bike was shown on screen, it would be blurry until it got closer each time. And yes, you have to refocus every time after warming up. It is best to turn it on a few minutes before viewing, otherwise it will get very hot. I have a USB fan on my laptop. As for the menu, there aren't many settings you can adjust, most of which are greyed out and cannot be adjusted. I don't know why he's even there if nothing can be done about him. Maybe the firmware was updated later or something. Still pretty annoying. For example, glossy color only works if you set the light mode (doesn't look good in my opinion. I like the custom mode), it sets it to 8 and you can't adjust anything on it. Custom mode is the only one that can be customized. Then you only have brightness, contrast, gamma, sharpness and color. No brilliant color matching. The usual color does not lead to anything good. I bought a ViewSonic vp3d1 3D converter from Amazon. (You need a converter or 3D computer to view 3D. It is 3D enabled, not 3D). . Gran Turismo 5, Call of Duty Black Ops, Resident Evil, Despicable Me, and Tangled all looked very good in 3D. I have a Panasonic bdt310p Blu-ray player 2D to 3D converted and bought from Amazon. This feature works well on Blu-ray but not on DVD because the projector doesn't allow you to adjust the resolution. 3D still looks better though. I bought the best 3D Heaven glasses on Amazon. They're cheap and work great. I bought a 4ft x 8ft white board at my local Lowes store. It takes a very good picture, it's light, it can be bent, and it's only $12. I haven't tried VGA yet, only HDMI. The video connector doesn't work with anything I've found. The specs say there is a connection of components, but there isn't. I bought a component to HDMI converter for my Wii for $30 off Amazon. This is the only way I know of to connect the Wii to this projector. I look forward to many movie nights and sporting events with this projector. Bottom line, this seems like the only option if you want a 3D projector with LEDs so you don't have to worry about lamp life. ps If you have a PS3 and plan to watch 3D movies on it you might have problems, I have 40GB. He and 60GB are disconnected in places, and sometimes they don't work at all. Blu-ray playback on these models also burns the system. I am told that this has been resolved and corrected in the new Slim 160 and larger models. Not sure how true that is. All I know is that my 40GB doesn't work properly even with the latest firmware. Except in games. Pros: You have a very portable 30 to 120 inch screen that is 1/4 the price of a projection TV. The 82-inch TV looks just as good, plus the LED. Very good 3D effects. Long lamp life. good color headphone jack. Cons: Focusing issues. connectivity. Very limited customization. It should be pretty dark for a good shot. The darker the better. There is no power button on the remote control, there is a slide switch on the side which is not user friendly. If not put down, it will move the projector.
