The CygoLite dazzles! I have been using a 5 LED Planet Bike Beamer but bought this CygoLite for an upcoming ride that is mostly on regular roads. Without a doubt it is much brighter. But I knew there would be a compromise between flashlights that use AA or AAA batteries and flashlights that use rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. I have attached some photos showing the difference between Beamer 5-LED and CygoLite in its 3 main settings (low, medium, high). CygoLite on the right. (Photo taken in a dark room 6ft from the wall). Love the flexible strap, it makes it easy to move the CygoLite between bikes. Some notice that the light is still moving too much. I'll take the projector with me anyway - it's more than adequate for trails and sidewalks - and it's comfortable. I don't have to remember to plug it in. But if I really want to be seen, all I have to do is charge CygoLite.
