I needed a light for dark country roads and am not disappointed with this aspect of the light. There's bright and good light output, and the flash modes work well too. The build quality of the case feels very solid and I think it will survive a few random drops. However, on bumpy sections of road, the rubber strap that attaches the light to the bike allows for too much movement. I personally prefer clip mounts that hold securely. The CygoLite dazzles! I have been using a 5 LED Planet Bike Beamer but bought this CygoLite for an upcoming ride that is mostly on regular roads. Without a doubt it is much brighter.
