I photograph architecture and real estate to make a living. I was looking for a light and small lens to take with me on weekends and holidays. I heard some good reviews about this lens so I decided to give it a try. it hit me I swear if I had to wear only one lens for the rest of my life, this would be it. Are there sharper and faster 35mm lenses? Sure, for $800 or $900 you could get a sharper, faster lens, but it would also be twice the size and five times the weight of that lens. This lens is very comfortable to wear. I've heard some say that this is a bad lens for video recording because the autofocus makes a bit of noise. I suspect the on-camera mic could pick it up, but for the type of video work I do with my A7RII mounted on my Ronin M and audio captured with wireless mics, this works fantastic. Autofocus with my A7RII is fast and accurate. So. are there any downsides? Well, the lenses are plastic, so I think if you're not a little careful you could scratch them, but you'll have to work on it.
