Great door, installation can be tricky but take your time.

This is a really cool wall mounted dog flap. Would recommend if you're looking for a double flap wall door that will stand up to the elements, by far the best door on the market - by no means a cheap plastic door, it's an all aluminum door with an aluminum corridor through the wall. . Dueling valves keep your home isolated so you don't have to worry. I live in Arizona and it was 110 degrees today (a fun day to install the door) but after the door was installed I touched the interior hatch in the house with my hand and it was cool - I got this for that. Now you may have heard that the installation is not for beginners, I agree. I consider myself a pretty good handyman who has quite a few tools. At the same time, the installation took me 5-6 hours (because I'm a perfectionist). I would suggest if you are considering buying this door for a large door, or a very large door, get out your mandrel finder and look at the locations you are considering FIRST! I have a large door and found that the template for this needed to be cut to 12.5 inches. Luckily the spot I wanted to install them had the studs 13" apart - that was a very tight print now and I had no room for error Width depends - height isn't an issue. That being said, my installation went like this: 1) the inner hole - the main drywall - easy, just take a template and use a level from above to make sure it's level. It was easy, I went and bought a 3/8 extra long drill bit to go through the drywall to the outside wall so it cost +$13 for a drill bit that I will only use once. 2) Outer Wall: OMFG, after removing the insulation I found the outer side wall was sealed covered in chicken coop wire - WTF? So the tools I had to get through a simple drywall died fast and I was forced to go back to the hardware store and buy a metal bladed reciprocating saw that can handle chicken coop wire +$90 well now I have because a new toy instrument. take? Shit, it's getting expensive. Well after that bingo! that cut through this outer wall in no time at all. 3) ok now it's time to measure the "hallway" from the inside wall to the outside side wall, remove 1/4 as the instructions say and cut the aluminum accordingly. OMG, that was the hardest part of the whole ordeal. trying to cut through the outer wall with the blade from the pack it blunted to nothing (so I had to get a saber saw) but now I didn't have a blade to cut aluminium, did I. Use this blade for something else then cutting of drywall and aluminum - use something else for the outside wall! As you might have guessed I had to go back to the hardware store and buy some metal blades for my jigsaw, take blades with small and narrow teeth, larger ones will "jump" and bend the aluminum as it cuts. 4) Now it's pretty easy and down the stretch just add the top and bottom aluminum pieces as they say and then the sides on the inner door, use sealant and be generous with it. 5) Now take the outer door and connect it to the aluminum "corridor". I did it myself but if you have someone else it would be helpful. After they are "connected", take long screws and screw them to all four corners. Just make it match and not tight as you'll have playroom to make sure it's that bad boy and boom even after tightening evenly! it together! You just don't have to go outside and grab a protruding nozzle and just go up and down with it - it cuts off where it screws into the door. Then just put the caps on the screws and kick the fuck through the thing (kidding). That being said, installation can be difficult, but not impossible. Just make sure you have a few hours to kill and take your time, take your time and you'll be fine. I hoped this helped!
