Review on 15/185/65 Maxxis Bravo HP-M3 88H by Mateusz Grabowski ᠌

Mediocre product, probably won't use.

My SUV is outfitted with 215/55R18 95H M+S tires. For a long time, I opted for the least expensive option available in the regular size with a tread that varied only slightly from a strictly highway design. I find all-terrain tires to be overkill, especially while driving on primers (wet or dry). I didn't get stuck in the mud, primers, or sand when driving around 3000 kilometers. The tread gets clogged up with pebbles. Let's say controllability is average; it appeared a little late around the bends. Though I haven't had any cases of drift or slipping in corners just yet, I do get a little nervous whenever I'm entering a turn faster than usual. The ABS warning chirps quickly enough on both wet and dry roads. Hydroplaning, for example, is excellent and typical in a rut, but I try to avoid driving through puddles if possible. It creates noise and transfers vibration to the cabin on poor "rough" asphalt, which may be due to the vehicle's low profile. Consequently - cheap tires for a cool and correct (distance) movement, even on dirt roads without zealotry. Good asphalt is essential for the enjoyment of fast driving. Wear and tear discussions are premature at this point. I can't say whether or not to recommend it; everyone has their own tastes. PS - All I have to compare it to is a worn out set of ordinary conti premium contact 2 tires, and other than some potential differences in ABS and handling, I find this rubber to be at least as good, if not better in key areas (tread pattern, passing joints).

Pros
  • Excellent cost-effectiveness On a well-maintained, noise-free road, Doesn't bang into walls or hammer through wells and manholes. Brace for the Discs
Cons
  • Strict (concealed?) Noisy on lower-quality and medium-quality asphalt The ABS looked to have activated too quickly.
